There is nothing like a great dance anthem to throw on when you’re having a bad day or just need a little pick me up and Skye Stevens’ ‘Takes All Night’ is that song. This young pop singer has the dance moves and the music to take him to the top. We chatted about his music and the debut single. Check out the interview and video below!

Arin: What got you interested in music?
Skye: Music has been a part of my life since I was five. I’ve always been surrounded by the arts, music, and theater and that whole thing.

A: Your debut video just came out and its popularity has grown quickly, so what has it been like to get that reaction?
S: It was very rewarding; a lot of work went into the video. We really wanted to create something that was different against what was happening right now. The record is called ‘Takes All Night’ and it’s about being in a club and it’s just very club/party oriented. And so a very easy sort of way that we could have done it would be in a club with laser lights and that type of thing. But we really wanted to show the art that has been created and create a love story. So there is a guy chasing a girl through the streets and alleyways, and they wound up together at the end of the night and that really transcends the message. The music video has a lot of inspiration behind it personally, if you look very closely, there’s a moment where the shoes light up. That’s actually a contemporary/modern take on Michael Jackson’s ‘Billy Jean’ moment; because in the ‘Billy Jean’ music video, as he’s walking down the street, the sidewalk lights up right behind him. And I wanted to sort of pay homage to him since he’s been such an inspiration to me as an artist. Since a young age I wanted to add that aspect on to my shoes so when I dance the light changed behind me.

A: What is your plan for this year, and what can people expect to see in the next few months?
S: Well a lot is happening very quickly, which is very exciting. The song actually just debuted in Chicago on a major radio station there. And basically the plan is that we’re pushing ‘Takes All Night’ to clubs nationally and then to dance radio nationally. And then of course Top 40 radio, so it’s just really just to spread the music across the country. It’s a slow build and it’s a slow process, but we’re doing it, we’re trying.

A: When can people expect to hear more songs from you?
S: I think it really depends on the progression of ‘Takes All Night.’ I know right now we really think it’s important to spread ‘Takes All Night’ as far as it can go. And then after that we can release more music. We have other records; there are ballads, there’s up-tempo, there’s sort of chill slow down tracks, so there’s really a great variety to the album.

A: Social networking wise, what are you doing to get in touch with fans and stay involved?
S: of course, I have a Facebook page and a Twitter page, but what’s really cool is on my Facebook page there’s a little email thing and it says ‘Email Skye.’ and everyday almost I’ve been getting one or two or three emails from fans. It’s just so exciting because there was a girl in Hawaii whoemailed me and said that she was going through a very hard time in her life right now and that every morning she listens to ‘Takes All Night’ just because it’s so positive and so fun and it really just makes her forget everything that’s going on. So it’s things like that when I see the music communicate with them that’s just super inspiring.
