The last night of a tour is bittersweet for anyone; and as Tristan Prettyman took to the stage to open for The Script for the last time, she made sure to let everyone know just how much fun the tour had been. Thousands of fans packed into New Jersey’s Susquehanna Bank Center were eager to see The Script, but first they were treated to a performance by Tristan. Known for her single “My Oh My,” Tristan proved that she was more than just that one song. Getting the audience to laugh and sing along, her thirty minute set was captivating and the perfect start to what would become one

of my favorite concerts. Having just released her debut album, Cedar + Gold, Tristan played a variety of songs including “Come Clean” and “The Rebound.” Following the set, Tristan was greeted by a long line of fans wanting photos and autographs.

Following the set change, it was time for The Script. As the lights dimmed and intro music played, the band started to take to the stage ready to make the last night memorable. Starting out the set with “Good ‘Ol Days,” the fans screamed as lead singer Danny O’Donoghue ran along the barricade singing with fans. Tears streamed down a few faces and everyone had a smile plastered on. Progressing into “We Cry” and “Hall of Fame,” the fans continued to sing every word. Danny, Glen, and Mark each captivated the audience in their own unique way. Mark and Danny were both moving around the whole stage while Glen sat on a drum kit towards the front of the stage. During “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” Danny enlisted the audience to help sing the whole song. With everyone standing, it was like listening to a choir of a few thousand people. The band initially started out in LA although they are all from Dublin and made jokes about how the adoption papers are almost through since the band is in the US so much.

During “Nothing,” Danny took a fan’s cell phone to call a random person while singing. Moments like this are what make concerts unpredictable and enjoyable. With only a few songs left, Danny and Greg both played acoustic guitars and sang their song “I’m Yours” to the still smiling audience. With one song left, Danny disappeared from the stage as the first notes of “You Won’t Feel a Thing” were played and as I wondered where he had gone, a spotlight appeared from behind me and I realized he would start singing from the row behind us. He then progressed through the rest of the crowd up to the stage while the girls surrounding us stood in awe of what had just happened. As they played the final notes and left the stage, the crowd cheered louder than they had the whole night. If I wasn’t inside the venue, I would have though One Direction or Justin Bieber was on stage. The band returned to sing “Breakeven” and “For the First Time” and then brought out the whole crew to cover them in silly string while also thanking them for making it such a great tour. The 70 minute set was one of the best I have seen and the time flew by.

The band will be back out again soon hopefully and it is one show that’s worth the ticket. Check out photos below and make sure to grab #3 from The Script and Cedar + Gold from Tristan Prettyman!
