With so many shows, movies and books about the supernatural, it is refreshing to see a new vision that is thrilling and interesting

It starts with a prologue that can be vague at times, but that really works to the stories advantage. It draws you in with little bits of information about a character that was once a prisoner and now called the preacher.

As the prologue continues, danger begins to heighten, leaving the reader wondering what exactly the danger is and why the preacher is the only one who can stop it since he had been in prison for a reason. The author also does leave much to the imagination as to why the preacher was put in prison. Making you wonder why someone that was seen as almost a hero could have deserved being in a maximum-security prison in a solitary cell.

The end of the prologue sees the preacher taken over by the possible demon, but is he dead and the possible demon really gone? Who was this preacher, and why did he have the knowledge to go after the possible demon? These are all smart questions left at the end of the prologue that make the reader want to continue.

My opinion on just the prologue

This prologue is very professionally written and really captures the reader’s attention. This kind of storytelling continues throughout the book.

The author does an amazing job of continuing to keep the reader on their toes. After the prologue, the story picks up with a character that had a small part in the prologue. The story centres around this character as we begin to learn more about her and the supernatural world she may be a part of.

The story continues..or does it just begin?

The story now follows Abigail, who seems to be a soldier that fights dark and supernatural beings; however, this is only alluded to making you hungry for more information. She meets a human named Haatim, who becomes the target of some undead beings. Haatim has no idea how connected to Abigail’s world he is, but he will find out now that he is in danger. Abigail becomes intertwined with Haatim and is forced to put her mission on hold to ensure his survival. As the book goes, more and more information is revealed about Abigail and Haatim and the supernatural world that they both now are part of.

This is a smart, intriguing thriller from the first page in the prologue until the very last page.

Anyone a fan of the supernatural will love the different view that is written in this book. The story makes you want to keep flipping the page to see what happens next, and each chapter is better than the last, and for this reason, I give this book a 5/5.
