Every once in a while you come across a book which stops you in your tracks. It pulls you out of the slumber of everyday life and shakes you from head to toe.

I read a lot of books — you may have noticed that if you have been following me for a while. But finding books that have this much of an impact is still a constant struggle, and not necessarily one I always want to take when reading.

But upon first picking up In Ascension by Martin MacInnes all of this was unavoidable. From the very first dreamy, lucid chapters I knew this book would get me to think — hard and fast.

In case you haven’t got the memo by now this story is going to be all about In Ascension, and how it caused me to alter the way I viewed the world around me.
