Welcome to A Thyme for Milk and Honey. My name is Sarah Kay Hoffman, and launching A Thyme for Milk and Honey today feels like a piece of my heart has filled in.

I spent years building A Gutsy Girl. Early in my career, I believed the topics I was most passionate about could co-exist. I still believe that the topics can co-exist. After all, each topic uniquely tells my story and paints the picture of the entire journey.

But I no longer believe that they can and should co-exist on the same platform. The things I write and share are merely stories, tips, and tools meant for helping people on their own (possibly similar) journeys.

I’ve been fortunate (some might say unfortunate; it’s not) to walk so many different paths, but each path is not for everyone.

A Gutsy Girl is the path for those who are interested in all things gut, gut healing, and real wellness. It’s for the woman (and now also her children) who has been diagnosed with (and/or suspects) IBS, IBD, infertility, hormone issues, and/or adrenal fatigue. The blog is practical, from a research and journalistic plus real-life application angle. There are tips and tricks, research, how-to’s, recipes, and more for helping women (and their children — men even read it now, too) heal as holistically as possible.

So what about A Thyme for Milk and Honey?

The Move

There are thousands of you who couldn’t care less about anything A Gutsy Girl. To be honest, I hope you never have to.

But what you love and care about are real life, totally honest and raw stories.

When you followed A Gutsy Girl it was because you cared about one or all of the following:

  • infertility (from the emotional aspect vs. practical)
  • adoption and foster-to-adoption
  • raising multiple children
  • our new home (and move from California back to Minnesota)
  • LIFE — family, friends, love; the good, bad, and ugly
  • faith

If you found yourself nodding, “Yes” to the above, then this is your place and space.

Welcome to A Thyme for Milk and Honey.

A Thyme for Milk and Honey

Actually, the name and site was all set to be: Milk and Honey. But then I searched milkandhoney.com and (obviously) it was taken. So, scratch that because I’m forward-thinking enough to know that at some point, I may want the official URL.

I don’t today because I’m keeping it as minimalistic as possible, building and writing on the Medium platform.

But still…..I own athymeformilkandhoney.com

Thyme, milk, honey: all three words are very relevant and descriptive for what the site is all about.

At its core (because I’m not looking to get detailed on anything today):

  • Milk and Honey is from the Bible (Exodus 3:8), and beyond that, there are so many more meanings for me personally with the two words
  • Thyme is a play off my favorite Bible verse ever, “Everything is beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) But also, Thyme is one of my favorite herbs, it’s stunning in a very simplistic way, and its color is one of my most favorite colors ever.

I’ll share more soon.

Here is what I said about A Thyme for Milk and Honey on the A Gutsy Girl blog post today,

And they may or may not (usually may not — shocker — I know 😜 ) care about adoption, faith, our home, raising babies, etc.

But as I removed those categories from the site, one-by-one, my stomach physically hurt and my heart literally felt a pain.

Without those topics in my life and that outlet for connecting with people and sharing stories and that journey, having success with A Gutsy Girl seems very non-important, if you want the truth.

For me, there is no desire to make money or have my passion topics serve any purpose except the purpose to inspire, share, and heal — myself and anyone who enjoys those topics, too.

Honestly? I want no part of A Gutsy Girl if I can’t have this part, too. Because there is no A Gutsy Girl without every last piece of A Thyme for Milk and Honey.

This I know for sure.

For those of you who have kept reading all things gut just in case there might be little nuggets contained within the posts about adoption, children, faith, etc., THANK YOU! Thank you for reading it all. You are my jam.

The cover image for this website was done last fall by my beautiful and talented friend, Makayla. Why? Because I needed that new header image for A Gutsy Girl. Yes, this image was supposed to be for that website.

Thank God my vision became so strong and clear. It was never meant to be for A Gutsy Girl. It is — without a doubt — meant for…..

A Thyme for Milk and Honey

More soon. Much love. As always.

Xox, SKH
