‘Herb Antony’ is a screen printed textile design that was designed and printed by Lucienne Day between 1955–56. Its a large print that is of plant illustraions drawn by Day, that make up the repeating pattern of the design. It intially caught my attention becuase of Day’s use of the intense primary colours within the illustrations standing out against the dark coloured fabric which the design is printed upon. I find the drawings captivating as they don’t seem to resemble any sort of real looking plants which made want to get a closer look to find some familiarity within the drawings. The illustrations are very intricate so I spent a long time with the design, looking over all of the drawings and trying to take in all the small details of each one.
