The Very Important Boxing Match
By seeking and blundering, we learn.
Goethe
Two small well-trained, unbeaten, young professional boxers, step into the ring and go over to their respective corners, one of them dancing his way to his corner while the other one intently walks over to his corner throwing various kinds of punches, on opposing sides of the ring for the up to that point most important boxing match in their professional boxing careers
Many in the large boxing crowd in the huge arena pay close attention to both of the boxers
The bell rings
A strong left-hook is immediately thrown by the somewhat shorter fighter which clearly misses the mark
A powerful counter-right hand is thrown which also misses the moving opponent
A well-thrown right hand connects to the left eye of the somewhat taller boxer, who was moving backwards when it landed with a thud
The highly-talented boxers carefully observe and study one another’s every move and faint as they both confidently step around each other in the very center of the ring
The winner of the elimination boxing match would go on to fight against the great and the longstanding unified champion next
There were only a handful of unified champions still remaining in boxing at present
A fierce straight jab snaps back the head of one of the boxers and which causes him to smile cynically
Their respective old, very experienced and well-respected trainers are both sweating profusely while they are intently following what is going on in the ring between their two boxers
A vicious right-hand connects to the side of the lightly-bearded face of one of the small boxers
Quickly followed by a well-placed solid left hook to his right-side kidney area that causes the fighter to briefly pause and to momentarily take a step backwards before he dips to the left and quickly launches a right uppercut that connects to the eye area of his somewhat taller opponent, who was ducking away from him
His opponent had bought into his quickly improvised faint and he had somewhat ducked to his right side and he nods very slightly to acknowledge his mistake of momentarily falling into his opponent’s trap while also clearly making a note of it with his serious wide-open eyes
Both fighters are known to have very good and very solid chins
The important first round of twelve comes to an end
The many tense boxing fans in the large arena collectively exhale at the very same time
The cornermen throw some water on the head of one of the pugilists and they intensely begin massaging his serious and his attentive face while his old trainer again and again offers him a few exact pointers and instructions to his somewhat shorter fighter
The other corner offers their boxer some bottled water which he categorically refuses while rubbing some Vaseline on his eye lids as his old trainer whispers into his ear as he nods his head
The bell rings for the second round in the rather tense and quiet packed arena.
