A thought on ambiguous

In the tapestry of life’s failing design,
So exists a concept, so vague: Undefined,
Sits the elusive “they,” a shadow’s disguise,
Cloaked influence upon us, our thoughts sodden comprise.

From hushed interactions and fables not told,
Inferences of “they” lubriciously cold,
She / he / they / it a presence, not seen not named,
Yet it it it is the actors, in our tales, acclaimed.

Who what where why, ubiquitous and vast,
Crawling, ‘their’ influence amassed,
whispers in the night,
“They” weave narratives, blinkered from sight.

A pronoun, her phantom, his language conceals,
Identity veiled, it mystery appeals,
“They” shift shapes in each context they dwell,
A versatile term, with secrets we tell.

Uncertainty’s ally, in “they” oh do confide,
My mysteries abound and answers I bide,
What is not known or unknown their guise,
They ravage and renege and tout rage for lies.

Mistrust will burgeon, institution in sway,
As “they” hold dominion, torching the way,
None utter caution as we what?
For truth and illusion in penumbra merge.

They.

They.

They.
