Visitor’s confidence (Day 47)

Because it was a holiday weekend and Otto is now almost one and a half-month-old, some of our friends got encouraged (and had more time) and visited. We limited the number of visits in these four days to three, but still, we didn’t have so many before. I guess we can expect more as they’ll grow in confidence it is ok to see our newest addition to our family.

To be honest, it was very good to talk to people. Even though our boy wasn’t so obliging as he is still clinging to me or my husband, but still, we got some company.

Otto got some new presents, which I must say are always very useful for a baby, and we got tons of questions. I just hope everyone is ok with my husband’s and my honesty.

They mostly ask about how parenting is going and we do answer as is. A lot of it is about poo.

Then people split along the line of having children. Those with kids offer advice even though most of them forgot a lot about babies so small as it was years since theirs were babies. And those without kids, especially women, ask a lot of questions about labor. So because mine was very short and by-the-book, I am now a promotor of having kids.

It is wonderful despite the challenges is what I always say. I can’t say I’m a pro at it yet, but no one truly ever is. But still, motherhood is a beautiful experience so far.

Motherhood in numbers:

  • afternoon nap: none
  • teeth washed: once
  • diapers changed: five
