Always by his side (Day 46)

Weekends at our home mostly mean that we are together, doing things around the house, doing the weekly shopping, maybe watching a movie and as of September this year, also taking care of Otto.

This weekend has however proven to be a challenge as Otto is still crying whenever he is not either sleeping or feeding. My husband has a lot of tricks up his sleeve to calm him, but when he wants his mommy, everyone in the neighborhood will know about it.

There is nothing wrong with our baby boy. We feed him, bathe him, take him down for his naps, he sleeps beautifully during the night and he is not ill. But lately, he is very clingy because he’s growing. And everything is new.

It is not so physically exhausting as it is mentally. As a mum, your heart breaks every time he cries and there is no particular reason for that. And the worst part is, there is not much you can do, just be with him and console him.

I do try not to breastfeed him every fifteen minutes, but sometimes, it comes to that. I always check if he wants to, but for our boy, it’s pretty much always a go for the breast. Either does the trick, as long as I give it to him.

So if anyone sees me these days, know that the dark under-eye circles are from worrying, not from the lack of sleep. They did tell me that worry is part of the job description.
