Sometimes we’re just putting a little bit of cancer in us

So you’re 20 or 30 something years old and you like(d) the good stuff. Friday and Saturday nights are the best part of your week, propping up a brewery’s balance sheet and showing the world what a dance floor was made for. You laugh your ass off at a good house party, make randoms your new best friends and are usually still horizontal at 10am Sunday morning. You kinda know that lifestyle causes cancer but you’ve got a long way to go before it becomes a problem… right? Or maybe you’re past all that and are settling into a wise and mature lifestyle sipping your sauvignon blanc over sunday dinner and are wondering why you seem to know of so many people that have been diagnosed with cancer. It really sucks to be them but that’s just life… right?

Wrong. Although cancer in young people is on the rise (up an average of 22% across both 0–24 and 25–49 year olds between 1995 and 2015), we don’t have to just sit around and hope that it doesn’t happen to us. We can still live it large and cut our cancer risk just by getting educated on anti cancer nutrition and lifestyle. Enter the Clean for Cancer blog.

If you love a good time and want to learn how to counter balance bad habits with some good ones that are relatively easy to implement, don’t cost a fortune and could significantly reduce your risk of being one of the 38–50% of society who have to tell their family and friends “I have cancer”, then this publication is for you. Inspired by my decision to raise money for kids cancer research by implementing some new habits in 2019, I’m documenting my journey and learnings across the year so that others can hopefully pick up a few good habits along the way.

One more time!
