How to set up MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the easiest and safest ways to interact with Ethereum wallets. With MetaMask you have a full control over your wallets and private keys.

Here is a quick step by step guide on how to get started with MetaMask.

1. Make sure that you are currently using a Chrome Browser. Then click on the button below to open the MetaMask Chrome extension page. Click on “Add to Chrome” in the top right corner of the popup window, then confirm again on the notification popup.
2. You should now see a little fox head on the right side of your search bar. Click on the fox and then accept the privacy notice. On the next page, scroll all the way to the bottom of the terms of use and then click on accept again.
3. Create a password to unlock your wallet. Anyone that knows this password has access to your digital assets. We suggest using a password that you don’t use for any other online accounts. Write your password down. When you are done, click on “CREATE”.
4. You will now receive your recovery phrase. Write it down on a piece of paper. You can also download the seed words as a file. When you are done, click on “I’ve copied it somewhere safe”.
5. Your new wallet address has now been created. Click on the three dots next to your account name. Here you can: 1) Export your private key to use this account with any other wallet 2) View the account on Etherscan 3) Show the QR code of the account or 4) Copy the address.

Always log out of your wallet when you are not using it. You can log out of MetaMask by clicking on the three lines at the very top right corner and then clicking on “Log Out”.
