“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” — Maria Robinson

“Listen, it’s my destiny. I am not responsible for the situation I am in. I just can’t do anything about it. That is how it is, and that’s the unchangeable destiny!”

Moving ahead in life with an assumption, “everything is planned”, deprives us to take advantage of the vast amount of knowledge available to uplift our condition, our situation. Even astrology is considered a predictive science, which can predict what may happen, and not necessarily what will happen.

So, is it really changeable? Or the situations in my life are the unchangeable reality?

This question takes birth from the lack of understanding of the concept of Karma. The often quoted destiny is just the result of our past activities. It just lands you up in a certain situation. That’s it and that’s the end of it. How a person reacts or responds, it’s not pre-decided. That’s your free will. But, this present choice, determines the future situations (or destiny).

This is the reason Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita that he is not responsible for a person’s situations (Bhagavad Gita 5.15). The person, by use or misuse of the free will, creates his own corresponding situations. And the response to these situations determines his future situations.

This is the simple way to understand, the mystery of Destiny!
