It is the end of the week so time for yet another weekly update. This week has been very exciting as we can already see some of the early dev. work. It makes the whole process so much more vibrant as it brings the whole idea to life.

Achmed the Advisor

Achmed, one of our trusted advisors invited us over at his house to discuss progress, start-up pitfalls and market specifics. We started to talk about our flowcharts, our designs and our need for absolute user friendliness. Achmed -who build a couple of very successful companies himself- took his valuable time to go over every step in great detail.

Data architecture

Data is power and power means more users. Achmed explained us how important it is to collect the right data from the start. This data makes the difference between 10 or 10 million users as it immediately shows all ‘cracks’ in the app. As of now, this has been given the same priority as visual design. Ben (our back-end developer) and Achmed are on it.

UX/UI Design

This week we had a community vote in our discord channel about whether to use ‘scroll’ or ‘swipe’ in the app. The community was unanimous. After some extra consultation with our advisors we went for scrolling with a secondary swipe interface.

Making an app isn’t as easy as it would seem. There’s front-end, back-end and a whole lot of revisions on the design part. An app-user needs to navigate through the app with so much user friendliness that he/she never has to read a manual to find out what it can do. Making it easy to understand is just one thing. The real challenge is to mold all that easiness into a design that is sexy and unique.

Well.. That is where we are now. All our flowcharts, designs and functionalities have been updated for version 0.1 of the App. It certainly will make the app a lot more exciting and user friendly. More about all this in a special UX/UI post later on.

CIVIC’s verified ID will bring a whole new layer of safety to travel

Development

Daniel and Ben, our Back-end and front-end developers, weren’t joking when they said ‘F•ck it, lets get to work’ last week. The app is being made for both Android as IOS right from the start and these guys are killing it.
Ben already made a custom API (datastream) to see which planes leave Schiphol airport. This gives us a great way to build a test app before we can hook it up to the real API’s of the airlines.
Daniel suprised us all with an early front-end version of our design:

Team

Erno — Marketing/Strategy/ Sales

Joost — Marketing/ Strategy/ Communication

Nick — Design

Daniel — Front-end

Ben — Back-end

As of this week Martijn joined. Martijn is a professional videomaker/editor and will help us with cool content for marketing, community-communication and of course documentation purposes.

Welcome Martijn!

Version 0.1

Version 0.1 will be our minimal viable product. It will enable explorers/adventurers/you to do something that has never done before; to board an airplane seconds before departure by using an app.

As this makes history on itself, we are looking for a sexy nickname for this version with a historical reference. Some of the ideas the team had:

What do you think, any of these or do you have another idea?
Let us know in our
Discord channel.

That will be all for this week.
Enjoy your weekend!
