At this moment in time, most shops are closed, schools are out and offices empty. Half the world is in the Christmas spirit and so are we. This is a special update, it is our last update of 2018. What a year has it been for aavio! Time to quickly recap the past months and carefully look into the future.

The idea

The idea for aavio was conceived two years ago during a severe winter depression. Trying to flee the dark rainy weather of Western Europe, we headed to the nearest airport to catch the first flight out. Unfortunately we couldn’t. Airlines charge the highest possible price to anyone willing to book a last-second flight due to their pricing strategies.
In European alone, 600,000 seats remain empty. As there are a lot of adventurous wanderers among the younger generations, we immediately saw great potential for a new business model.

Getting to work

The idea faded away as life dragged us in different directions. However, in September of this year the team found itself in the perfect position to start aavio for real.
In order to do so, we needed to find (and become) experts in KYC/AML, token economics and international crypto regulations as a whole. We then haggled, begged and worked very hard to get everything in place without betraying our core principle; setting up an absolute fair tokensale for everyone.

Next level

This week we had a meeting with Civic, the secure identity ecosystem. Our objective was to find a fast, secure and efficient way to do KYC/AML. Civic offered us the perfect solution with their decentralised software. Just download their app and try it out on Wikihow. It is amazing how fast and easy that goes isn’t it?

Right, so Civic will be part of our KYC but the biggest news is that we are allowed to implement their tech on our MVP. This means that users are ID verified when they use the aavio app. Currently people have no ID check when they buy tickets, adding another layer of security to the process. We are convinced that this will open a lot of important doors for aavio in the near future.

Video

Most of our community members already knew that we were working hard on our own brand movie. Many hours and a lot of versions later, are we more than delighted to showcase our video, our story.
