Importance of writing.

Over my last three years in college, I have learned the importance of writing and writing with meaning. Knowing how to write well helps you become a better communicator overall and improves your reading, which is an essential job skill but also necessary in everyday life. Writing skills also support our ability to explain and refine our ideas to others and ourselves. Writing is a way of sharing your thoughts and ideas with others and is used for many things throughout our lives and day-to-day lives. If you think about it, writing is on everything to help describe, inform, and direct people. Some writing can be fun, and some are vital information. There are numerous goals for writing. The most common ones are to enlighten, amuse, clarify, or convince. There are countless others, though, such as the ability to communicate emotions, investigate concepts, assess, arbitrate, solve conflicts, and support or refute ideas.

Writing is a crucial framework for society and how we function, “Sumerian cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs are generally considered the earliest examples of true writing systems. Both gradually evolved from proto-writing between 3400 and 3100 BCE.” Writing is a foundation for all languages, communities, and societies, and the importance of knowing how to communicate through writing is enormous. Writing sometimes has a negative connotation with papers and pitches and negative thoughts, but we write every day thousands of times a day. We may not write as much on paper anymore. We text, write posts, and use words through our phones because of writing. Writing is a meaningful way to get your thoughts and emotions across and can be very moving. It has been observed that writing is necessary to help the human mind achieve its full potential.

We will forever need writing, no matter where we are or the situation. Writing is valued and seen as a crucial piece of everyday life. Writing engages both sides of the brain. The left side of the brain is more analytical and logical than the right, which is the more creative side. Writing anything requires both sides, but creative writing requires both in particular. The left side assists in putting your ideas down in a logical manner, while the right side of the brain manages all of your desired outcomes on paper. It can help you think out problems. Many of us have written on pros and cons lists to see options and issues more clearly and to help you make a better decision. Writing influencers, people is seen in blog posts and speeches that work with influencing society. Writing also has been shown to help with mental health. Writing down your ideas is helpful when managing depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Putting your ideas down in writing can help you process your feelings and get in the direction of better mental health.

Overall, writing is used in so many aspects of life, and it is essential to have impressive and strong writing skills.
