The importance of having support in your life

In life, we all go through hard times and rough moments. Everyone does, if you know it or not, and some are better at hiding it than others. Everyone goes through heartbreak, grief, loss, happiness, and so much more throughout their life, but some have to go through these emotions alone, and it causes them to break down over time. The importance of checking on loved ones and even the strongest people you know is always needed. It is essential to value and respect what someone goes through and not just see them as weak and vulnerable. There are many things people can go through that others have no idea about, such as alcoholism, depression, drug addiction, eating disorders, illness, and so much more. People tend to have a fear of sharing these issues with the people they love because of the risk of being seen as weak and troubled. Many do not want to come off as a burden to others and, therefore, keep it to themselves, creating a more significant issue. These bigger issues can lead to falling out with loved ones, death, and even homelessness and loneliness.

Support in people’s lives can vary based on the person. This can be from asking what someone needs to ask questions reminding them that you support them to validating someone, actively listening, being present, and so much more. Being supportive and, therefore, someone doesn’t always have to be that hard. Just checking in once in a while can really help someone. Simply checking in on someone on a bad day can make or break someone’s day and even save a life. This is why it is important to always be nice; you never know what someone is going through, and it is so important. According to research, having a solid network of supportive relationships has many advantages. People with strong social support networks also tend to be healthier, live longer, and report feeling happier.

A strong and reliable home makes or breaks some peoples future and upbringing. Having social support helps and contributes to physiological health. Research has shown that lack of communication with others and lack of a support system cause a more incredible downfall in mental health and more significant risks. It is essential for everyone to be healthy or not to have a support system because it makes a significant difference in people’s day-to-day lives. Social integration can be from friendships to romantic relationships; it involves emotions, intimacy, and a sense of belonging and being included in social activity, relationships, and romantic partners. Participation in social groups has an influence on behaviors, often influencing whether people eat a healthy diet, exercise, smoke, drink, or use illegal substances. A support system can affect your life greatly; everyone needs one. Do you have enough support? Would you benefit from making your connections now more profound? If you seem to be struggling with relationships and maintaining a support system in your life, maybe think about reaching out to a therapist to better assist you in making your relationships stronger.
