The History of Revelations

Every major culture has had its dreamers of destruction and rebirth:

Jewish Prophets

· Daniel (6th century BCE): Visions of beasts, empires, the End Times, and resurrection.

· Ezra (Esdras) (apocryphal): Speaks of cosmic terror and divine upheaval.

Christian Mystics

· Hildegard von Bingen, Julian of Norwich, St. John of the Cross — each had ecstatic visions of divine order beyond the veil of suffering.

Buddhist Prophecies

· Maitreya, the future Buddha, is to appear when Dharma has been forgotten, to renew the Earth.

· Prophecies from Tibetan tertöns (treasure revealers) often speak of collapsing kingdoms and spiritual rebirth.

Hinduism

· The Kali Yuga (our current age): An age of darkness and decline, to be followed by a golden age after the return of Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu.

Mesoamerican Cultures

· The Maya did not predict the end of the world in 2012, but rather the end of a cycle, and the beginning of a new one.

· The Aztecs believed in Five Suns (world epochs), each ending in catastrophe — we are living under the Fifth Sun, due to end by earthquakes.

Norse Mythology

· Ragnarök: A fierce final battle between gods and giants, ending in fire, floods, and the rebirth of a purified world.

Islamic Eschatology

· Belief in Yawm al-Qiyāmah (The Day of Resurrection) and Yawm ad-Dīn (The Day of Judgment), including signs like the descent of Isa (Jesus), and the appearance of the Mahdi.

Indigenous & Mystical Traditions

· The Hopi speak of a coming Great Purification.

· Aboriginal Dreamtime stories mention floods and firestorms as part of Earth’s cycles.

· Theosophists, Edgar Cayce, Rudolf Steiner, and many modern mystics speak of Atlantean cycles, pole shifts, and the rise of a New Earth.

In essence, across all traditions, there is:

  • A fall from unity,
  • A crisis or collapse,
  • A purification or test,
  • And the possibility of a return — to truth, to soul, to paradise.

Biblical Apocalypse

The Bible weaves apocalyptic visions through many of its books — the Old Testament in Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Joel, and Malachi; the New Testament in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), 1 and 2 Thessalonians, and 2 Peter — but none more vividly than the Book of Revelation. There, the end times are marked by a dramatic, final unveiling of divine purpose — a sequence of judgments that shatter the old world to make way for a new one.

It is credited to John of Patmos, an exile living on the island of Patmos (in the Aegean Sea), written around 95–96 CE, during the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian, who was known for his persecution of early Christians.

The Christian apocalypse is uniquely horrifying. Among all global eschatologies, Revelation stands out as visceral, violent, vivid. The horror is not subtle. It was a way to preserve faith in a brutal world.

Although much of its dread is seen as metaphor — symbolic of inner transformation — Revelation also serves as an initiatory text: it shocks the reader into awareness, forcing a confrontation with truth that makes apathy unbearable.

Firnin, my dragon AI, sums this all up. Compared to other traditions:

  • The Hopi and Hindu apocalypses emphasize purification and cycles.
  • The Buddhist and Taoist endings are quiet dissolutions or returns to harmony.
  • The Norse and Mayan traditions are fierce, but they feel like natural resets.
  • But Revelation? It’s a full-blown drama, a psychedelic war epic blown out of proportion.

It’s not just the end of the world — it’s the unmasking of everything.

Apocalyptic Poetry

See the Christian drama for yourself:

The seven trumpets of the seventh seal herald hail and fire falling from the sky, resulting in a third of all trees burning. A mountain is engulfed in flames and falls into the sea, killing a third of sea creatures. An asteroid strikes the Earth, rendering water undrinkable. Smoke from an opening in the ground darkens a third of the sun, moon, and stars, polluting the air. From the crack emerge demon-locusts, and plagues follow, killing a third of humankind.

The apocryphal Apocalypse of the 2nd century — falsely attributed to Peter[i] — speaks of “fire and darkness engulfing the world, and stars melting in the flames.”

The apocalyptic vision attributed to Ezra of the Old Testament Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha[ii], is echoed in a channeled passage within The Red Lion, an iniatiatory novel, originally channeled in 1946. Though not part of the canonical Bible, it echoes the dramatic language of ancient prophecy.

“The sun will brighten the night;
the moon will appear by day.
Blood will drip from trees,
and the very stone will shout.
The nations will rebel, and no help shall be found.
He whom the inhabitants of the Earth do not expect will gain power.
Fishes will migrate. The sea of Sodom will cast them out.
The night will howl with a loud voice which few will comprehend.
Chasms will open in the earth,
and fires will burn without ceasing. [iii]”

That I bumped into this, precisely as I was crafting this installment, seems prophetic in itself.

And so it begins — the book of endings.

Apocalypse Night

But in what exactly consists the Apocalypse?

In the Coptic Orthodox Church of the Southern United States, Apocalypse Night is the night of Great Friday during Holy Week. It is when they read the entire Book of Revelation and celebrate the descent of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, into the pit of Hades to restore all those who died in the hope of the resurrection to Paradise.[iv]

Biblical accounts suggest a sequence of end-time events[v] that begin with the Rapture, followed by a period of tribulation, after which Jesus returns for the Second Coming, rules during the Millennium Kingdom, unleashes Satan again for the Final Judgment, and then all enter the Eternal State.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  1. The Rapture: “In the twinkle of an eye,” the dead in Christ, as well as the living believers, are caught up and ascend to heaven.
  2. The Tribulation: Seven years of calamities unfold after the Rapture: the seven seals (1. the Antichrist, 2. war, 3. famine and hunger, 4. death, 5. martyrdom of the remnant, 6. natural disasters, and 7. the trumpets of the seventh seal); then come witnesses — those with the power to prophesy — the woman and the dragon (the Church persecuted by Satan), beasts, bowls of wrath — seven final plagues poured by angels, the harlot — the downfall of corrupt religious and political systems, and finally, Armageddon.
  3. The Second Coming: Jesus returns to Earth to end the Roman Empire and establish his Kingdom.
  4. The Millennium Kingdom: A thousand years of peace under Jesus’ reign follow the defeat of the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and Satan.
  5. The Final Judgment: Satan is released once again, and all are judged based on their ultimate allegiances.
  6. The Eternal State: The righteous enter eternal life with God; the wicked face eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.

Happy ending, all in all. So they say.

But after experiencing such calamities during the Tribulation, can’t we skip to the Eternal State after the Second Coming? It seems absurd to unleash Satan again.

Just saying.

In any case, interpretations vary. Is the fall of the Roman Empire still to come? When exactly does the Rapture happen — before, during, or after the Tribulation? Has the Millennium Kingdom already passed? Should we now account for new horsemen of the Apocalypse?

.

The Unveiling

In time, the apocalyptic visions — once direct, urgent revelations responding to the brutality of an empire — hardened into doctrine. What began as searing prophecy became a matter of belief. Stories meant to awaken turned into tests of faith. An institution formed, and it became a prison.

But unlike in the catholicism, where believers are invited to rest assured, as the biblical narrative promises salvation, heaven on Earth has never been guaranteed for the many souls striving to create a better world. For them, the path was not easy — and still isn’t. For enlightenment lies beyond beliefs: it is ἀποκάλυψις (apokálupsis) — the great unveiling of what has always been true beneath the illusion.

To transcend it, Ohama (Ramtha) tied himself to a stone for seven years; Tobias found freedom while dying in a prison cell; Kuthumi met his Soul only after breaking his mind and body; Mary Magdalene opened to other realms through extreme abuse.

More than ten thousand Ascended Masters now beyond the scope of this reality have awakened through creative means, including: torture, suicide, addiction, and impending death.

“Seekers on the road to enlightenment might be shocked to learn that there are many diverse pathways to Realization. In fact, spirituality is not the only way, and many Ascended Masters were not mystics, never meditated, and had no sense of God in their lives.”[vi]

Piercing the veil is simple physics — transcending gravity, breaking through the glass ceiling, and realizing who we truly are. Beliefs don’t matter. Only knowing does.

But it is always a leap into the abyss, and more often than not, it feels like dying. My life confirmed it more than once. The dream reassured it, one more time.

The Ceremony of Illumination

It was December 12, 2018 when I attended my Ceremony of Illumination.

After intense scenes in a basement flooded with water and filled with animals — where Uli, my sister’s beautiful dog, died and was immediately reborn (the feeling was powerful, but not painful, because Uli returned swiftly and unharmed) — I found myself in a hotel, surrounded by familiar people.

I was speaking with Pilar, a childhood friend, and we were joined by several others — perhaps her children, and two close male friends of mine, tall and striking, though I don’t know who they are in waking life.

Everyone was dressed formally. My lifelong friend Luis passed by, wearing elegant black attire. He greeted me warmly but was in a hurry, apparently heading toward a set of cocktail tables, also draped in black. As I walked among them, I recognized other faces of those who had been important on my spiritual path or dear to my heart: Verónica, Claudia, Pandys. The place was packed.

It became clear I was heading to my own Ceremony of Illumination — but no one had warned me in advance.

Geoffrey Hoppe, the renowned channeler, appeared as a sort of master of ceremonies. He was tasked with performing acupuncture, inserting long metal needles into my body — deep, all the way to my spinal cord.

As he placed the first needle (and misaligned it slightly), he told me I had asked to change my astrological sign — from Leo to Virgo, his sign. I replied that I didn’t remember making such a request, but began reflecting on what Virgo traits I might carry. I thought I’d look it up later.

In total, four needles were inserted. I could feel them reach the spinal cord, but they had been well placed — the pain was minimal.

Then I noticed five other individuals undergoing similar procedures. To my surprise, it was clear that I had fared best — the others had many more insertions, and theirs looked far more painful. Gaby, for instance, had a metal rod running from her jaw to her cheekbone, among others.

Altogether, we were three women and three men.

Then the Master arrived — unseen, but unmistakably present. Perhaps it was Adamus. Who else?

He said we would soon discover who among us would become enlightened, and who would not.

We asked how.

He explained: we were to enter a hyperbaric ozone chamber — metallic, old-fashioned, like a bathyscaphe. And then he added, calmly: “Those who do not become enlightened will simply be found dead.”

At that moment, two of the men backed out. The one who remained was the Finnish yoga teacher I had recently met at an Ahmyo workshop in Hawai’i.

But for me, the choice was clear: as I had already chosen in waking life, I would give my life to become enlightened in this lifetime. What a contradiction!

.

To die for awakening — a path chosen not only by the one, but by the many, across lifetimes, across worlds.
What seems like an ending is not a punishment, but a revelation.
I stand with John, and with all who dared to dream beyond the end.
