The call for Scotland to invest in its infrastructure — particularly physical and digital — as echoed by the panelists in Aberdeen last week is welcome in these harsh financial times for schools. In an address to this January’s BETT conference Jenny Watson, ex Head Teacher of the celebrated Middleton Park Primary School in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen says “my budget is extremely limited”. However, funding has since got worse as last week the City Council Education Committee announced a cut in the school budget of over a £1 million.

Sir Ian Wood transformed the Grampian NHS experience by building a free car park for patients at ARI; it is not hard to recollect what a nightmare getting to appointments on time was. Maybe there is an opportunity for him to invest as big in the local education sector and leave a legacy for our children, particularly just north of the City.
