Sad News in Theme Park Podcasting
Two major Disney podcasts announced difficult news last week.
The world of theme park journalism has an, often well deserved, reputation for snark, click-bait-y headlines and general inaccuracy. But if you stick around long enough, the bad work becomes apparent and the good people rise to the top. The Jim Hill Media Network podcasts (The Disney Dish, Fine Tooning, Marvel Us Disney, Looking at Lucasfilm) and Podcast: The Ride are two groups that do unique work that is entertaining, informative and are shows that we at Abigail’s Army headquarters listen to weekly and support.
And all of the people involved are, by all accounts, good, kind, folks.
Last week, both organizations announced some sad news on air.
Podcast: The Ride’s Jason Sheridan (the “Mayor of Disneyland”) announced on the podcast that, after a long run of health issues, he has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
As fans of the show and of Mr. Sheridan himself, we just want to wish him the best as he navigates this difficult condition. We’re rooting for you, Jason!
On The Disney Dish with Jim Hill and Len Testa it was announced that their long-time producer (and co-host of Marvel Us Disney) Aaron Adams passed away suddenly due to a medical emergency over the Thanksgiving break. As producer of what is almost certainly the Podcast of Record for Disney park news, The Disney Dish, as well as co-host for Marvel Us Disney Adams has positively influenced the lives of incalculable numbers of fans.
We can but offer our sincere condolences to Mr. Adams family and friends and an appreciation for all the good work he’s done.
