Since BlockAble’s official launch in September, we’ve seen an incredible surge in the hiring of new employees. It’s an exciting time, and with fast growth, it’s easy to forget the value of getting to know one another.

Bearing this in mind, we’ve decided to do an ongoing series interviewing all the incredible people that make ABL an amazing team to be a member of. A sort of “Employee of the month,” if you will. So without further ado, this week we’ll kick it off with one of our newest hires — Micah Joyner

About Micah:

Role: User Interface Architect.

Likes: Mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, music composition and playing video games

Dislikes (intensely): Reality TV and gossip

Crypto of choice:
Funfair — “I feel like the tokenization adds another level of dimension to casino gaming.”

Micah has always had a fascination with the relationship between form and function, particularly the art and ingenuity in combining both, especially in the context of human interaction. As it was said in the film John Wick, Micah “is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will…” I sit across from him and only see him break away from what he’s doing if it means he’s getting his questions answered or progressing his pursuit of knowledge. So I felt quite honoured to get 10 minutes of his time at the local coffee shop and learn a little more about what makes him tick.

For Micah, the blockchain is first and foremost an opportunity to learn. Learning to him is absolutely essential for his ideal work environment.

Micah “is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will…”

“My happiness in a job is dependant on me learning,” he says laughing. “I’m always looking to learn new things. As soon as I stop learning in an organization, things get dull and I start looking for new ventures.”

This pursuit of learning and the chance to be the forefront of emerging tech is what Micah saw as the opportunity of a lifetime.

A man of independence, he didn’t cite any particular role models but instead closed things with a quote that’s acted as a source of inspiration for him throughout the years:

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today” — James Dean

And Micah certainly is one of those people who likes to dream of the possibilities, but his fascination with technology isn’t a new development.

“It all started at the dawn of the internet, I must have been 15, when I first saw a website and thought how was that built?”

Micah and Gene crunching the numbers

It’s this drive, this desire to understand the mechanics that has guided Micah to become a website designer and interface developer; and with over 20 years of experience, he has built a background in content management systems, multimedia production and a strong focus on user experience and intuitive user interface development.

Lastly, while his mental fortitude is surely super-human, in his down time he’s just like the rest of us. He enjoys gaming narrative driven or retro games, snowboarding and music composition, and hates the societal drama that gossip brings.

If you’d like to reach out to Micah or any of the BlockABL team we’d love to have you join us in our telegram channel: https://t.me/ABL_Ecosystem
