Introduction

The modern world is moving faster than ever. As a consequence of that, software needs help to keep up with the demands of the modern user, regardless of where they are in the world. On top of that enterprises are modernizing their existing application portfolio at an accelerated rate. So, just how do you develop and modernize applications that deliver the instant and real-time user experiences that customers demand, all with minimal resources and overhead? How do you modernize those hard-to-move legacy applications, of which there are so many?

In this session, you will learn how to build a modern, distributed, real-time banking app with streaming and full-text search using Spring Boot, Spring Data Redis, Vue.js and Azure Cache For Redis Enterprise deployed onto Azure Spring Cloud. We’ll also go over some of the differences between RDBMSes and other (not-only SQL) types of data stores and when to pick which. You’ll also learn how Change Data Capture (in the form of RedisCDC) can help to address the challenges posed by those hard-to-move legacy applications, so you can start building extensions in the cloud and phase out those applications in an iterative manner with a minimum of touchpoints.

About the presenter

Lars Rosenquist is an experienced software development veteran, with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Before joining Redis as a Partner Solution Architect in 2021 he worked for three years at Pivotal/VMware as a Platform Architect for Cloud Foundry and before that he spent around 17 years in software product development, both nationally and internationally, focusing mostly around (but not limited to) Java and Spring.
