This year, in the summer, The Next Web (TNW) took place. In these two days, many interesting sessions were organized. We would like to highlight a panel discussion of the Future of Finance: ‘From Open Banking to Open Finance’. Read more about the panel and watch the video.

The panel

This panel consisted of:

  • Koen Adolfs (Lead Product Owner — Open Banking & Enterprise Integration Technology, ABN AMRO)
  • Joris Hensen (Initiator and Co-Lead API Program, Deutsche Bank)
  • Nilixa Devlukia (CEO, Payments Solved)
  • Cutler Cook (Venture Partner, Deciens)
  • Stephen Morris (Banking Editor, Financial Times).

From open banking to open finance: Creating a new economic reality

Open banking prospects remain high but take-up remains slow. A building block to open finance, its moderate progress is hindering making this a reality, where data from all areas of finance such as pensions and mortgages to be shared in an open data economy. This discussion looked at what open banking means for consumers, its shortfalls, and how technology will evolve in the future.

Highlight video

In the video below, some highlights of two of the panelists can be viewed. We focused on Koen Adolfs and Joris Henssen, because of their connection. They have a similar experience: running an API program in a big financial institution. Many interesting points were made by the other panelists too, so make sure you don’t miss out on TNW next year!
