Why Do We Write?

Between writing articles and editing my first novel, which is almost ready to be published — not to mention the numerous ideas that spring to mind and require the wisdom of a Shaolin monk to avoid diving headfirst into a new project — I sometimes stop and take a moment with myself to ponder some questions.

Who’s talking?

For those who follow and already know me, you are aware that I have a penchant for telling stories. For those who don’t know me, this is a great way to start by answering that question.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved immersing myself in different worlds, whether through reading and creating an entire universe inspired by my readings, or, more concretely, by inventing scenarios while playing with my childhood figurines.

Even though these stories were just fleeting ideas in my head, a certain narrative process was already in place from a very young age.

Then, in early adolescence, I started writing, mostly poems, as this literary genre quickly captivated me when I discovered it at school. Following that were story beginnings in a notebook or on a document on my computer, and even song lyrics — an art for which I had less affinity, I admit.
