A Tale of Missed Opportunities
The cost of Procrastination.
Story 1:
After several years, I reunited with an old college friend with a cup of coffee. We hadn’t seen each other in years, but it felt like no time had passed as we fell into easy conversation, catching up and reminiscing about our college days.
So, what’s new with you?
I asked him, eager to hear about his adventures since our graduation.
I actually got an offer from that big multinational company we used to dream about working for back in college.
As he answered my question, I detected a hint of hesitation in his voice, but hearing that he got the job at our dream company filled me with immense happiness and pride. I congratulated him warmly and asked,
When did you start working at the company?
He looked down at his coffee, stirring it absentmindedly.
I didn’t take it.
He admitted quietly. I was stunned. After grueling rounds of interviews, his dream was finally within reach. You can imagine my surprise and confusion when he mentioned, almost in passing, that he never actually took the job. I pressed for an answer, bewildered at why he’d pass up such a golden opportunity.
