What are some curious facts about Ilana Lydia?
- I have written 3 books, although one never made it to the final stages.
- I have written 13 full-length plays. My favorite takes place in the 1950s and is about a superhero named Cat Girl who is controlled by her Rationalizing and Questioning Elements. When the play ends, the main actress goes on speaking, relating her own story, and Cat Girl exits the theater a whole, real person.
- My undergraduate thesis was on Plato’s anticipation of Nietzsche, and how the two great minds spoke over time.
- I took my school’s highest honor in Philosophy, the Thomas Aquinas Medal of Excellence. I was the second woman to do so. (Most Philosophy students at my school were priest candidates.)
- I have a serious problem with math, despite having been advanced in it at a young age. I was so bad at the math portion of the GRE, I lost out on my grad school’s best scholarship.
- The bumper sticker on my car says, “Don’t Panic!” in reference to Douglas Adams’ ever-expanding trilogy, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
- I spend most weeknights in rehearsal, usually directing.
- I have one black cat named Nyssa, after Baker/Davison’s companion on Doctor Who. She’s a pistol.
