Hello, all guys, gals, and non-binary pals! I’m A.L. Rogers. You can call me Al. I’m a 40-something-year-old Southern gal living in South Louisiana with my husband and two cats. I’ve been writing since I used to make my own newspapers out of paper grocery bags when I was 6 years old. I’m new to writing on Medium, but I’ve been a reader since around 2020.

I’ve worked all sorts of jobs: young adult library program coordinator, phonics instructor, children’s ministry leader, food service worker, personal care attendant and respite worker, job recruiter, more customer service jobs than I could list here, and — of course — freelance writer. I’ve spent part of the last five years as a caretaker for my parents. I was diagnosed late with ADHD last year, which may explain why I’ve spent a combined 6 years in college and still don’t hold a degree, and I’ve changed jobs like some people change underwear.

This variability inevitably carries over into my writing, as I don’t stick to any one niche but instead apply my life experiences to a myriad of topics. I’ve written on activities and literature for children, teens, and their parents. I’ve covered career profiles and resume writing tips for job seekers. I’ve written personal essays on religion, spirituality, and personal development…
