I live in the mountains of Austria with my crazy Podenco Leo who is a rescue from Spain. He’s supposed to be a hunting dog, but fears cats, squirrels and pretty much anything small and furry.
I’m a part-time photographer, part-time writer and author and full-time human being. What I mean by that is that people are and always have been my first love and everything I do revolves around that central theme.
I also love beer. That’s important too!
I was born and brought up in the UK to German-speaking parents and even as a child I was the one befriending the new kid. An early experience of being called a Nazi in the school playground (read the story here) only fanned that flame and at 18 I trained as a psychiatric nurse. I was naïve, idealistic and believed I could change the world. It was tough both mentally and physically and during that time I got covered from head to foot in shit, attacked by a psychopath with a live drill, I witnessed a bloody attempted suicide and had the honour of caring for some of the best people I have ever met who were living with all kinds of mental…
