About Me — Ana Sousa

A tech enthusiast who actually just wants to change the world a little bit! And is living a PhD rollercoaster!

I am very lucky. Born in the 90’s, in Portugal, with an older brother, played a lot in the street but also grew up close to technology and the internet! My uncle lived at my house for almost all my childhood and always had the latest devices and late geekiness. A computer, then a portable computer, an internet modem, a webcam… You name it! And I grew up learning about them, playing with them, and doing funny stuff with my cool and modern uncle! Had a blast!

I always liked technology and soon started to understand how it could be helpful in so many areas. I also always liked biology and medicine, the human being, and health. So when I finished high school I went to do a bachelor's and master's in Biomedical Engineering. The idea of using technology in medicine to improve someone’s life always got me excited!

But after finishing my master's I couldn’t find any job in Biomedical Engineering… So life led me to QA Engineering, I started working as a software tester for a company that developed systems for contact centres. I discovered I’m pretty tailored for this role as I have good critical capacity and attention to detail. I was good at my job and had an amazing team, but…
