About Me — Ananya Dube
Unlearning to learn.
Hi!
I’m Ananya (Un-un-ya).
I reside in Delhi, the capital of India, I am in my late twenties (27), and I’m learning to take life, one day at a time.
I live by the three words,
“Sabr, Shukr, Dua” (Patience, Gratitude, Hope).
Academically, I’ve completed my Bachelors of Arts (Honours) in History from the prestigious Delhi University and a Masters of Business Administration specializing in Marketing from a B-school in India. I’m a full-time consultant in a big-4 finance organization and work on solving complex challenges by analyzing data. I accredit a large part of my upbringing to my brilliant convent school education, which taught me not just to believe in myself, but to navigate through tough waters in life through small experiences.
I write about self-development, personal growth, fitness, love, finance, and pretty much everything else.
I think that’s the beauty of not picking a genre. There’s a little bit of everything here, based on my personal experiences and learnings.
My love affair with writing began when a paternal uncle visited from the UK and asked me to write about “Indian Railways” after having taken a train in India recently. 7 years old, Ananya picked up a pencil and penned her thoughts down. He went to the UK and got it published in a local magazine.
Yes, I don’t even have a copy of it!
Ever since then, I’ve always gone back to writing to get in touch with my inner self. It brings me peace in a way that nothing else does. I think when I write I come in contact with a part of me, that isn’t really visible to anyone in the world. The little inner voice that usually tells me what to do. Needless to say, I have never stopped writing.
Personally, the dream of writing a book is still on the charts. Otherwise, writing an article on medium every week and thoroughly enjoying getting accepted and rejected! ☺
Working on being more mindful of my thoughts, and understanding more perspectives. Learning and unlearning every day. And truly investing in my growth as a person!
I wear my heart on my sleeve and always believe in seeing the good in everyone around me. I’m a solid believer in not having any regrets and usually just go with my gut feeling.
Like most other people, I carry the baggage of a traumatized childhood and failed relationships, but I’m learning to focus on my growth as a person and being more mindful of my decisions.
When I’m not working on my full-time consulting job, I use my time to write, read or play with my almost 3-year-old niece. She’s an absolute delight!
I’m also an avid reader and have read an unhealthy amount of books about the World War - II period (owing to my background of picking up History as my major during my undergrad years). War-time stories happen to be my favorite, I read an average of 30 books annually.
I’m also learning to cook and happen to love Japanese and Italian food the most. However, acing these cuisines could take a while.
I also lift and run, very frequently.
What’s happening these days?
On the work front: Going strong in my career as a Technology Consultant and learning something new, every day.
On the writing front: Medium, and my gratitude journal.
On the reading front: Factfullness by Hans Rosling and The Three Sisters by Heather Morris.
On the music front: Hardrock and a few Indie artists.
On the fitness front: I do strength workouts with this fantastic community of people from Monday to Friday and run about 5–7kms, 3–4 times every week.
Thanks for reading! :)
