About Me — Andrew Siemon
I make music and teach others how to do the same.
Hi, I’m Andrew, the owner/operator of Producer Society — a website featuring music production tutorials primarily for Logic and GarageBand.
I’ve been creating music production and guitar-focused content since 2018, though my journey with music stretches back much further.
Growing up in a small farm town in rural Ontario, Canada, I dedicated a good portion of my time to playing guitar, jamming with friends, and getting into a bit of mischief before moving to Mississauga, Canada, in 2011 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
I specialized in Political Science, with French as my minor. In hindsight, sticking solely with Political Science might have been wiser, as academic French proved fairly challenging.
Throughout it all, my guitar was my constant companion, and it certainly played a massive role in my fascination with music.
From the age of 10 until 18, I took guitar lessons, with Metallica sparking my transition from just a casual music fan to someone more interested in creating my own.
I loved their music, practicing from transcription books tirelessly and exploring other bands in the genre.
University life slowed my guitar playing, but my interest never waned. I studied music theory for a year on the side of my studies and earned a certificate in Advanced Rudiments.
Post-graduation, I moved to Montreal with ambitions of mastering French. I worked in the nightlife industry for over two years, during which my guitar playing paused.
However, discovering GarageBand reignited my passion for music. I dedicated two years to mastering the software, recognizing a scarcity of comprehensive resources online.
This period also sparked my interest in online content creation and marketing, leading me to WordPress, where I built my first website — a general blog on various topics. Utilizing the skills gained, I launched Producer Society in 2018.
Today, my focus is on musicianship and music production, creating product reviews, tutorials, and my own music when I’m not teaching others.
