About Me — Antonija Hinckel Osojnik
Even small things can have huge impacts on a complex system
Why I write
“One of the functions of art,” Ursula K. Le Guin observes, “is to give people the words to know their own experience… Storytelling is a tool for knowing who we are and what we want.”
Telling your story should be transformative for me, as a writer, as well as for you, as the reader.
Not an easy task.
My life story is full of setbacks and hardships, but they brought me some discoveries, and triumphs and taught me some lessons.
For example, the most valuable lesson is that it is OK to fail sometimes. If you want to know what all successful people have in common, it’s a failure. If we’re not failing, we’re not even trying. We’re not putting ourselves out there very often because we are afraid of being judged for our beliefs or failures.
So, I am putting a small part of my story here.
I was born in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, the beautiful country at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe on the Adriatic Sea, the country with lots of still carrying baggage. We had war. Luckily, disruption during and after it made me more resilient.
