About Me — Barry Taylor
Familiar with the Irish Exit? Here’s an Irish Introduction.
Last year I visited Derry, Northern Ireland for the first time. Some of you may know it as Londonderry — the only English word with 6 silent letters. Anyway, while doing a walking tour I watched as our guide — very much the man about town — greeted passers-by with “Bout ye?” time and time again. I’d never encountered this having being born and raised south of Dublin. We often use “What’s the craic?”, but I loved this camaraderie and succinctness. A trimmed-down, let’s-not-waste-any-more-time-than-we-need-to way of greeting someone. Speaking of…let’s get to it.
Unfortunately for you, I dawdle in person and ramble in writing — and I use the em dash too often. To keep me on track, I’m going to list some of my loves in no particular order, and in response — to better understand you — maybe you could leave a comment with yours? Or not.
Side note: My future writings (I’m new here) will be loosely based on the below topics. Even with more serious topics, I like to approach things in a light-hearted way.
I love hearing about people’s passions. How someone’s eyes can light up while their smile beams wide, and a red carpet duly rolls out to a new world of interests and possibilities. It’s infectious.
