About Me — Bathtub Narratives
Why I chose this pseudonym, my life and what inspires my writing
For me, writing is pure therapy.
I am a fifty-eight-year-old woman living in Australia near a bay. I own a cat and have an eighteen-year-old son.
I use the name ‘Bathtub Narratives’ rather than my real name. I have considered relinquishing my pseudonym, but the benefits of having one outweigh the negatives.
I am free to express myself without concerns.
I love hot water and bathtubs, which comforted me during my rainy childhood in New Zealand.
But bathtubs mean so much more to me…
At university, we were assigned to make a clay representation of our icon.
Mine was a bathtub.
Bathtubs are about authenticity. We are naked and safe in the womb. There is an intimacy about having a bath on your own and with another. I can take off the mask.
I notice bathtubs, so it’s a great starting place for writing a story.
People laugh when they can barely remember me, but I can remember something about their bathroom.
My love of baths extends to the ocean, spas, artisian springs and sea baths.
