Hi, I’m Bernice, and I live in beautiful Vancouver, Canada, home to some of the most beautiful mountains in the country.

Before living in Canada, I grew up in Hong Kong. I was born in the Philippines but moved there when I was three months old. For 15 years of my life, a concrete jungle of a city and its hustle culture was all I knew.

But I went to an international school with a Canadian curriculum, so the Westernization of my education started early.

As you can imagine, my answer to the covertly-racist question, “Where are you from?” is complicated.

I’m still exploring elements of my racial and cultural identity as an adult. I wrote about that journey on Medium.

I currently work full-time in marketing for a university. I’ve loved reading and writing since I was a kid, and while I get to write every day at work, it’s been nice being able to rediscover writing for fun again on Medium.
