A mixed bag, but something for everyone.
Nowadays, if someone asked me for a word to describe myself, I think it would be hodgepodge.
That word applies to almost every facet of my life. My music taste, food preferences, decorating style, interests…all of it is all over the place. I’m not really sure where it came from, but perhaps by telling you a bit about myself we might figure that out together.
I was born in central PA in the 1990s. The salt-of-the-earth, Rust Belt nature has gone with me throughout my life. As the youngest of eight siblings, how I grew up didn’t relate to many of my peers. My classmates at our tiny, 100-kid Catholic school would ask how we aren’t at each other’s throats all the time. I didn’t understand how I could argue with a sibling over a decade older than me. The setting of my childhood required acquiescence and creativity to keep myself entertained and to carve out a spot for myself among everyone else. The notion of setting myself apart was strong at a young age.
One of the most formative parts of my childhood was spending time with my maternal grandparents. Most of my memories of them were on the farm milking goats, feeding the animals, moving fences, and shoveling manure in either scorching heat or dismal rain.
