About Me — C.A. Jaymes
Retired teacher/school counselor, book addict, world traveler, novelist, (bad)guitar player and singer, animal lover, hiker, biker, philosopher, ponderer of the unknowable…
First of all, in the interest of full disclosure, C.A. Jaymes is my pen name. I kiped it from my three times great grandmother: Clarissa Ann James. When I came across her name in the family archives several years ago, I knew instantly that it would make the perfect nom de plume. Second of all, I must tell you this is my second attempt at writing this little autobiography. My first attempt sent me into a bit of a depression. I deleted that version and have come back for a second attempt. Wish me luck!
I was born at the tail end of 1959 in Southern California. I grew up in a small suburb nestled at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. I was the oldest of three — my sister, a tad more than two years younger, and my brother who is seven and a half years younger to the day. My sister and I looked like a pair of angels with our big brown eyes and disingenuous smiles, but we were almost always up to something, and most of the time it wasn’t good.
Like the great game we invented where we would get all the neighborhood kids to stand outside…
