A retired engineer and an avid spiritual seeker, who could not get rid of his writing itch.
I am a retired Design Engineer, seventy years old, as I write this.
People who know me closely consider me a creative or a versatile person — a machine designer, an artist, an avid reader, a music lover, a mechanic/electrician who can fix small things in household appliances, a foodie (who can cook) — eating less and criticizing more, a writer (Tamil and English) and a translator (English-Tamil-Malayalam).
My wife, who is the closest to me, considers me an incurable procrastinator, throwing all my other faculties into the dustbin!
After early retirement, I am now an avid spiritual seeker, leading a simple life with my wife in the Ashram at Amritapuri, Kerala, spending my life in the quest of spirituality under the holy feet of Amma, Satguru Mata Amritanandamayi.
Amid all my various roles and faces, I feel very glad if someone acknowledges me as a Writer. It is my weakness. It is an inborn itch which has never left me, though as a spiritual seeker, I should get rid of that for good.
My spiritual quest started in my early thirties and it has been greatly influenced by the lives and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi, Swami Sivananda Saraswathi, Kanchi Maha Swamigal and of course, my Sadguru Amma.
My interest in writing as a hobby began at the age of twenty, and I became a regular short story writer in popular Tamil magazines during 1970s to early the 2000. I wrote under the pen name Sandeepika in Tamil.
In my fifties, I also started writing in English on the web across various blog sites, covering a variety of topics such as Hinduism, spirituality, life and living, personal anecdotes, Indian culture, small business management, humorous anecdotes and more.
I have been writing and publishing books — both fiction and non-fiction in English and Tamil. My printed books are published through Notionpress and Draft2digital and are available globally through Amazon, Flipkart, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and so on. They are also available as eBooks from most of the online eBook stores as well as eBook libraries like Overdrive, bookshop.org, CloudLibrary, etc., distributed through Draft2digital.
Most of my Tamil fictional stories have come out as audiobooks in the famous international audiobook platforms like Storytel, Audible, Spotify etc.
I also do translation work across English, Tamil and Malayalam. Books translated by me from Tamil/Malayalam to English have been published. I have done translation of English books of a couple of famous Indian authors into Tamil.
I also write Answers regularly on Quora (English) as well as in Quora (Tamil) on readers’ queries on a variety of subjects. More than two thousand answers are there in either language on Quora.
I enjoy writing stories for children. Several of my Tamil short stories for children have been released as audiobooks on well-known platforms mentioned above. One of my recent works in Tamil children’s literature is Valmiki Ramayanam for children aged 9–15. First serialized as a conversational narrative in ‘Kadhai Osai’ channel in a 100-part series, it has also been published as a two-volume printed book.
As a spiritual seeker, I am deeply interested in knowing and writing on the multifaceted wonder of Sanatana Dharma — Hinduism.
On my website hinduismwayoflife.com, I have consolidated and shared all my English writings on Hinduism under one umbrella.
I joined Medium.com in June 2025, but I have been active only since March 2026. I am doing both active reading and writing on Medium nowadays.
On Medium, I have been sharing my convictions and views about life and living (which may not align with popular beliefs and advice) based on my life experiences and observations, conditioned by my spiritual background. I also share my personal anecdotes which I believe would be entertaining to readers.
Hope my health and age permit me to continue my new-found journey on Medium.
