About Me — Chandira Punchihewa
Hi there!
I’m Chandira! It’s a complex name to pronounce honestly. Therefore, I have many name variants, some people call me ‘Chandeera’, ‘Chandra’, ‘Chandiraaa’. Anyways, the meaning of my name is the bright Moon that you see every day at night sky.
I’m from Sri Lanka, known as pearl of the Indian Ocean. Well known for the natural beauty ranging from breathtaking waterfalls, pristine beaches to majestic mountains. There are so many stunning sights to view, if you have not visited it’s a great place to be.
You might be thinking, hey how did you end up in Singapore? Seriously, until now I’m clueless! Well long story short, while I was working as a Senior DevOps engineer in Sri Lanka in a software development company, I received the call for an interview in Singapore. Weirdly enough, I did not apply for Singapore jobs for over a decade. Well I accepted! Nothing to loose right?
After few interview rounds, they offered me the job! Yayy!! Ohh wait! Hold on! I have only one month left to book tickets and find living expenses. Oh my god! What shall I do? Reality struck! I need to sell something. What should I sell?
At this moment I was doing photography as my hobby. That was my passion! I even attended an international photography workshop from one of the best photography gurus in Asia to learn on the art. I moved into creative photography few months back.
Unfortunately, I had to give up my hobby! I sold my beloved D750 and my expensive lenses. That was one of my saddest day in my whole life!
Then the next month, I was ready for my next phase of my career in Singapore. I was amazed by the beauty of this country. Wow! Gigantic Megaliths and lush greenery everywhere. I was told by my taxi driver about the runway hidden on the middle of the road! Can you believe it? In an emergency situation, flights can be landed on the road, Wow!
So hear I am! Now working in Singapore for more than 1.5 years as a DevOps Engineer.
I love to travel. Now having a better work life balance, I can have peace in exploring Singapore and find hidden treasures inside the little tiny dot!
Now my passion is in cloud technology, artificial intelligence and finance.
