Who am I?

I am a child of God saved through faith by grace alone. I am from Los Angeles and have now lived in the Pacific Northwest for around 7 years and have loved every minute of it. I am delighted in the way various shades of green hug strong tree trunks, sprawl themselves across sidewalks and fill the skyline. I love art, baking, matcha (and coffee!), spending time in nature, the beach, and my cat Bubs.

Oh, and I love writing. I just have always loved words. I used to consume books like fire. In middle school, I wrote poetry about anything and everything that popped into my head — some of it was a bit strange and fictional and some were reflective and introspective. None of it was any good. I wrote throughout my high school years oftentimes in class instead of paying attention to who knows what. I spent many a night during these years as an insomniac ruminating on so many things. I would often be dead tired and get an idea that would excitedly pester me until it found its way onto paper in the middle of the night. But writing has not always been loyal to me. It has often fled from me for months and years at a time leaving me empty without a way to express myself.

This led me to my second love — visual art. As a kid, my favorite part of school was arts and crafts time (aside from storytime). The problem was I was better at crafts than I was at arts. But I just loved all that I could do — and be — with art. I enjoy all sorts of methods and mediums. Although art and I started a bit rough we are now getting along nicely — until I try hiding, that is. I pull away from art, my passions, and my dreams because being a human with a lot of ADHD symptoms and anxiety is hard. But that’s a topic for another time.

In 2017 I had an accident that put me in a wheelchair at the age of 26. It has been a tough time since then but there has also been a lot of growth and opportunities, and plenty of blessings. In 2020 during the lockdown, I decided to finally get serious about creating and began investing in improving my skills and abilities as well as sharing my work on social media. And now I have started writing on Medium because I felt moved to write about things on my heart — things that can be difficult to talk about but always flow easier and uninhibited on paper. I am here to write about faith, mental health, and healing from trauma, as well as thoughts on life.

I write with a hope to encourage and inspire others and as a reminder that we’re all in this together.
