About Me — Daphne Nguyen
I never thought my life was interesting until I sit down and write about it.
It is currently 11:30 PM on Sunday, 11/22/2020. I usually do not stay up this late on a Sunday but since I have the whole week off, I am on my laptop writing a few things about myself.
I don’t think about myself as necessarily an interesting person. But as I start thinking about what I want to put into words, I am both surprised and amazed about all the experiences and emotions I have gone through. So instead of a regular “what you should know about me,” I would like to share many of my first experiences and how I feel about them.
My first childhood memory.
I grew up in Vietnam. And if you ever watched any videos about my beautiful country, you’d know that we have a lot of mopeds. My family was not too well off, so my mom used to ride around town in her moped with me behind her.
I cannot recall how old I was at the time, but as I close my eyes to repaint that memory in my mind, all the details tell me I must have been no more than four years old.
It was a hot and sunny day. I was leaning on my mom’s back with my arms resting around her waist. I was so little that my arms could not reach each other. It would have not been memorable…
