About Me — Daria Aleksandrova
Writing about tech, travel, people, and life.
I catch myself thinking that it is elementary to answer the question “What are you?” when you meet a person in person, and at the same time, it is so difficult to formulate “What am I?” in writing. But wait. The difficulty lies in answering myself mentally the question, “So Daria, what am I ?!!”, then structuring it into an engaging story and sticking to it when speaking.
Still, that’s what I’ll do now to start my promising Medium writing journey!
Let’s get acquainted?
My bio states:
“Doing things in IT. Travelling the world. Reading books. Thinking about life and society (on a daily basis — call me a pro).”
Of course, I could end the story at this point, but I’m afraid this decision would end my Medium run as well.
Therefore, I will use the format “Name Three!” to better tell about myself here and not bore my future and already very beloved readers at once. 3 facts that will bring clarity to each of the bio points.
- Name Three! — Daria
- My name is Daria. Dasha is also my name. That’s the rearrangement that does not change the sum.
- I am in my twenties. Gen Z. Born in the 20th century.
- Proud Ukrainian. Living “щасливе життя” in Kyiv.
- Name Three! — Kyiv
This part was not originally planned, but if we are here, let me show you the three facts I LOVE about this city.
- Architecture.
2. Food.
3. People.
I would be happy to elaborate on these love points later, but now it’s time to get back to the plan.
- Name Three! — Doing things in IT
Cheers to me being veryyyy serious in the office several years ago:
- Improving lives by improving communication with Grammarly. Exploring the Solutions Engineer path on the post-sales journey.
- Was protecting the world from the phishing threats with Cyren. Spread a little about cybersecurity.
- Doing things in IT for a bit more than 4 years (only 4). Excited for a lot more to come!
- Name Three! — Travelling the world
For me travelling is about collecting moments, not things, and some of those moments are:
- Saying “Hello!” to his majesty The Ocean for the first time in Étretat, France:
2. Proving that Georgia is indeed the ‘cradle of wine’:
3. Checked-in the “Checkpoint C” — the former best-known Berlin Wall crossing point:
It’s so hard to stop myself at three here…
“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain” — Jack Kerouac
- Name Three! — Reading books
Instead of naming my top 3 books, which touched me sincerely and changed my reading world, I decided to name 3 books (and I think there were only 3) that I started reading many times but could never finish. Because why not?
- ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ by John Steinbeck.
- ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ by Jonathan Swift.
- ‘Don Quixote’ by Miguel de Cervantes.
Nothing personal, misters, I tried. Period.
Perhaps that’s how I’ll end my first story. Yes, I didn’t name three points about what I’m thinking about and what conclusions I jump to, but I will not limit myself to only three points. In fact, that’s why I am here. Medium is the place where I plan to expound all those thoughts spinning in my head, and I won’t deny stating that I’d so love it if my thoughts and stories click with someones’ heart as well.
Nice to meet you, Medium!
Yours,
Daria
