About Me — Dave Hodge

My name is Dave Hodge, but I’m more likely to answer to “duna,” a nickname from my days in the Navy. The son of a Sailor, I’ve lived in many places, but I was born in North Carolina and have always considered South Texas home.
I now live with my family in Ewa Beach, Hawaii (a suburb of Honolulu), on the island of O’ahu in Hawaii.
I attended college in both Elon College, in North Carolina, and Texas A & I, in Kingsville, Texas. I was majoring in Music Education, but in the spring semester of my senior year, I dropped out of school. After a couple of different jobs, I joined the Navy and retired in 2011 after 30 years as a Musician.
The Navy was a good fit for me (or I was a good fit for the Navy). You’ll hear some people say that military service saved their lives. While I can’t claim that — I will say that it turned my life around and provided opportunities that I would have never had. I had multiple assignments overseas, visiting over 30 countries. I served 15 years as an enlisted musician before being commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer…
