Hey there. I am David Yarborough.

I am 55 years old, yet at times I still feel like I am 15. I have so often had this sense of dichotomy in my life. One moment, I feel so strong, mature, and secure, realizing I have much to offer the world. The next moment, I can feel like a teenage boy again — not ready to grow up, insecure, struggling with ADD, wanting to lay on the couch and watch movies all day while eating sugared cereal.

I keep wondering what I want to be when I grow up. And when I am going to feel all grown up?

One thing I know is that I want to be a writer or at least a better writer. My grown-up self feels called to invest more time and focus in this area. So, MEDIUM friends… ready or not, here I come.

I have loved to write since I was a boy, writing short stories about becoming a big-league ballplayer in the major leagues or the NFL. My teachers, from middle school to high school to college and then graduate school, have often complemented my writing skills. I would much rather be a great writer than a great mathematician. Math is logical and predictable, but writing is art and beauty. Writing gives life. Words shape the world.
