About Me — Dawn Butler

On Pearl Island, Doha, Qatar, Oct 2023

By day, I’m a seasoned techie with over 25 years of expertise spanning software engineering, database administration, project management, operations management, and CyberSecurity.

And the feel good version: a smart, strategic thinker, an emotionally intelligent leader, eclectic and multi-passionate. A Techie leader with heart and soul.

This is how I always start my introduction BUT…

Things are new and renewing.

My life is in flux, transition and change.

Who I am is in question and To Be Determined

For about 10 years now, I’ve known there’s more to me and more to the meaning of my life but I’ve struggled with my voice and my posture in that “MORE”.

What is “MORE”? Who am I in this “MORE”? What’s my new identity in “MORE”?

Identity is the set of qualities, beliefs, personality traits, appearance, and/or expressions that characterize a person

If you were to ask me who I am and what I do, my response would be Tech professional, corporate citizen, project manager, CyberSecurity Professional and other work related titles.

These have been my identity for the past 30 years.

Identity is important to me as a Black woman and immigrant. As a Black woman, I’ve invested so much of my time, resources and self on building my career, expertise and reputation in an effort to have and obtain value in the world.

The moment I began to feel the shift coming, the first question I asked was who will I say I am or what will I say I do, when someone asks me. What value will I provide to the world? Will I be seen as valuable?

There was NO DEFINITIVE ANSWER. None, zero, zilch. I just heard, Wait For It.

I’m still waiting….

Yet moving forward….

This is in essence, Transition

Transition “the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another.”

Eureka! Who am I and what do I do?

I AM IN TRANSITION. I AM TRANSITORY…

I AM DOING THE WORK OF TRANSITION TO:

Dawn, the founder of CDWY (Courageous Daring Wonderful You), a haven for vibrant women aged 40 and beyond who find themselves single again.

My deepest desire is to help women embark on a transformative journey together, to redefine their dreams and celebrate the vibrant, confident, and empowered selves.

I am driven by heart and Godly purpose to guide them on a journey of healing, transformation, and rediscovery.

Through my writing and sharing my story, I aspire to guide women from devastation to abundance, from defeat to victory, and from low self-esteem to great self-worth.

My hope is to empower every woman to lead an Enormous, Abundant, and Fulfilling Life — to bring that Courageous, Daring, Wonderful You on the inside to the fore.

I invite you to join me on this transformative journey, where words become a catalyst for an extraordinary life!

I AM EPHEMERAL, EVANESCENT AND IN TRANSITION

I am doing whatever I’m led by God to do for this journey into “MORE” and shift to what’s“NEXT”

I’m an Experience chaser. I enjoy solo travel, classical music, the arts, spending time with friends, adventuring, and checking off my bucket list.
