About Me — Dewi Hargreaves

Freelance illustrator, author, small press enthusiast.

At this point, I struggle to define exactly who I am or what I do.

I’m a freelance illustrator. I draw maps — mostly to go in the front matter of books (like those at the start of A Song of Ice and Fire or Lord of The Rings). I’ve drawn well over a hundred of them now, so I’d say I have the hang of it. That’s my day job.

I’m also a writer. I’ve had fiction published in anthologies by Lost Boys Press as well as by independent editors, I’ve had a short story published in Noctivagant Press’s magazine, and I have upcoming pieces in several other publications. My flash fiction came 2nd place in Grindstone Literary’s ‘Open Prose Competition 2017.’ So I know a little about the short story market and how to sell stories there.

I self-published my own collection of short stories, The Shield Road, in March 2021, and I’ve spent a year marketing it, building an indie author platform, and collecting reviews. I know a bit about self-publishing.
