About Me — Earnest Echoes

When I was younger, I really enjoyed writing. I believe it came from my love of books and immersing myself in the lives of the characters within the pages. I also enjoyed telling stories. I’m talking recounting my school day while my mom prepared dinner or after the family sat down to eat at the table. I would enthusiastically give a play-by-play of the day’s happenings as if performing a one-person play! My mom would listen quietly, an amused smile playing on her lips. As I got older, I found myself creating characters and inventing their stories for my own entertainment. I didn’t live in a fantasy world, but I enjoyed creating scenarios and figuring out how the characters would work through them.
I’ve always had a keen desire to understand the why behind people’s actions. I would ask my friends, family, and acquaintances many probing questions. After becoming aware that such questions sometimes make people uncomfortable, I began to preface my barrage of questions with something along the lines of: “I’m just interested in knowing your thought process and what led you to make the decisions that you made.” Or “I just want to know how your mind works.” I don’t ask questions out of nosiness or to pass judgment; I genuinely just like to understand the thought processes…
