Three months. That’s how long I’ve been here on Medium.

It doesn’t sound like much, but when you’re starting out, three months feels like three years. Every article feels like an audition. Every view feels like a miracle. And every new reader feels like a little jolt of proof that maybe, just maybe, this whole writing thing isn’t pointless after all.

So let me introduce myself properly. My name is Edward Foster. I’m from the UK but currently living in Los Angeles. And in this short time, I’ve hit a small milestone: my first 1,000 views and 500 readers on a single article. To some, that’s nothing. To me, it’s everything.

But getting here wasn’t smooth. In fact, it was clumsy, frustrating, and often funny in the most unexpected ways. And that’s exactly the story I want to tell you.

The Slow, Stubborn Beginning

When I first opened a Medium account, I had no idea what I was doing. I thought, “Okay, I’ll write something brilliant, hit publish, and the readers will come.” Spoiler alert: they didn’t.

My first article got about twenty views, and half of those were probably me refreshing the stats…
