Hello everyone, my name is Eithan Eshel. I am a fifteen year old teenager (quite an odd one) who is obsessed with writing. I love writing. It lets me flow in my imagination and think of cool topics to write about. Human beings have been telling stories since forever, I found it interesting. I enjoy telling stories and I enjoy listening and reading other original literary work…

I was born in 2008. My mother is from Costa Rica and my father is from Israel. On a visit to Israel, my mother met my father, a friend introduced them to each other and they fell in love. A couple of years later they married and had my twin sister, Nomi, and I.

My childhood was the best period of my life (I guess you could say the same for yours). I could do whatever I wanted whenever I felt like it! I was obsessed with climbing trees, going camping with my family, playing with my Legos, playing the guitar and many more things.

A huge part of my life is my twin sister Nomi. Only God knows what I would be without her. Although we fight (quite often), we always manage to solve our problems and get a nice laugh out of it. Yeah she could be a pain in the butt sometimes, but if I had to choose between her or the sun, know that no matter what she will always be picked.

So we grew up, she is now a fantastic dancer and I am a classical guitarist. We both performed many times in front of an audience, and I look forward to playing for a bigger audience one day, I am sure she does too. I have been playing the guitar for more than 7 years and I love it! Everytime I play it feels so real and often very emotional. Often if you listen closely, you can hear the story the music is telling through the strings.

Other than playing the guitar I have found my own personal development path. I meditate, I read as many books as I can, I try to be more social, increase my muscle mass and be more physically active. Some of my efforts also go towards volunteering in the MDA, Israel’s emergency medical service. I have a shift once a week, in those hours I go on an ambulance and help those who need help and support.

Recently I became a vegan. It isn’t easy to increase body muscle mass when you are vegan.

I don’t know how I ended up as a vegan. Before, I ate meat and dairy products all the time. I even tried to eat as much as I could to get enough protein and be on a calorie surplus for the day. Back then I didn’t care about my health, only wanted to increase my protein and calories. Everything changed when my parents went full-in on veganism. I was shocked, I couldn’t even imagine myself as vegetarian and now I am asked to be vegan?!

I gave it a chance but the change was hard. I had to dig through a whole new variety of recipes, my entire diet had changed! I was a little depressed with the decision I made, I saw my opportunity of having nice muscles get thrown out the window. But later on, I learned of all the health benefits that veganism has to offer (which I will go into detail in another post), and that my dream of becoming a leaner man was still alive. I found my way through, and managed to get enough protein and calories, although it is a bit harder than doing so on a regular diet (like omnivore). It’s a bit harder to be vegan but I feel like I am doing the right thing.

A couple years ago I traveled to Greece and Germany, two outstanding countries with amazing views and amazing people! But my most unique trip of all was when my family and I went to Costa Rica. After 20 years of my mother not going home to visit, she finally got the chance. It was very emotional to see her reunite with her father and her two step brothers. It was also very emotional for my sister and I to finally get to know our distant yet close family, our origin story and where our mother came from. Other than family I felt deeply connected to all the nature surrounding me. A whole new world of animals and views. The beaches, the rainforests, the culture, everything attracted me, I was amazed by every little thing.

Once we returned home, back to Israel, my life seemed gray and regular. It felt like I didn’t have the chance to properly say goodbye to everything I experienced and everyone I met in Costa Rica. One way or the other, we eventually had to leave. Leaving this beautiful tropical land you get the sense of a man banished from heaven.

It won’t be the last time I step foot on Costa Rican soil, the land of nature and peace. I am looking forward to visiting it many more times and many other beautiful places on this Earth. I seek adventure, I want to have a crazy life. And I have a feeling that mine has only just begun.

Isn’t that all that life is about? To enjoy it and experience all this planet has to offer? To meet new people? Everyone should have a purpose in their lives. Everyone needs to live the way they want to and not the way they have to. People need to love their work, this world would look much better if everyone stuck to their purpose.

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years” — Abraham Lincoln

I don’t want to sit and wait for the time I’m going to be an adult and work my ass off for a job I don’t even like. I don’t want to run after money like a rat. My biggest fear is to live up to 90 years of age, to look back on everything I have built and to see nothing. I want to enjoy my life, to travel, to seek adventures, and maybe some day in the future I will create my own family.

Currently I found writing to be very interesting. On Medium, I would love to increase my audience and share my everyday lessons that I have learned. This way everyone learns something new. No matter what I write about, I will always do my very best to convey the message through a nice story.

I am not going to lie, part of my goals is to make revenue out of my writing on Medium. But as I said earlier, the world needs people who love their work. Currently writing is just my side-hobbie, I am still in school after all, but I hope that later on in life I could make it my full-time job. Yes, I want to make money, like everyone, but at least I can do it by helping others.

I know, it’s just a fifteen year old’s dream, it will be hard to live up to all my current expectations in the future. But I’m quite an odd person, and maybe you are too.

All the best,
Eithan

Feel free to reach out to me. I always love meeting new people and establishing new connections.
