Transparent Reflection
I’m a seahorse parent, organics artist, and fantasy addict. Gender dysphoria did its darnedest to hollow me out until I Kris Kringle’d down inside with a shiny new self-love-icating genderflux reactor.
The point was becoming somebody I could stomach. I had traveled the US, busked and taught music, recorded a dozen-some songs, learned to paint, and defeated nicotine. I survived a T-bone collision. I survived two overdoses. I survived the psych ward. Autoimmune symptoms awoke with a vengeance, dormant since infancy. The door revolved through countless doctors and insurance agents. I was told I’d never have my own kids and I began to fear lifelong medical debt were I to recover myself.
Still, life upends. I met my life partner one week after the collision. In 2020, the wonders of lockdown disproved my doctors in the happiest, most terrifying accident of our lives. My new family revealed a desire to persist, after all. I was to steer my body from the brink and douse a self-immolating immune system. Heal. Not for duty, but for desires held all along.
I am since hellbent to harness political science and social work to empower the creative soul. To permit my son to wander. I read and write to understand natural law, risk, how lives upend and reform. These are the axioms which bring us to our…
